AbstractIn this introductory chapter, the concept of the responsible university is introduced and put into context, first concerning other organisations and society at large, secondly in a historical perspective and thirdly related to policy initiatives across the globe. We also discuss how to implement this concept within the complex organisations that universities constitute. Augstskolu gada pārskatu diahroniskā analīze

Komunikācija ir jebkuras organizācijas nozīmīga daļa, tai skaitā arī augstskolu. Valodas pielietojuma analīzes augstskolu diskursos līdz šim veiktas tikai mājaslapām un brošūrām; gadu pārskati nav pētīti. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt LU Attīstības stratēģijā (2015. – 2020.) norādīto septiņu vērtību atspoguļojumu 2018., 2019. un 2020. gada pārskatā. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tiek izmantota integrējošā literatūras pārskatu metode un empīriskajā daļā tiek apspriesta pētījumā veiktā satura analīze. Analīzes rezultāti norāda, ka visos trīs pārskatos cilvēku un sadarbības vērtības ir ar lielāko leksisko vienību skaitu, no kā tiek secināts, ka tās ir visvairāk uzsvērtās.
Examining Benchmark Indicator Systems for the Evaluation of Higher Education Institutions

Higher Education Institutions are undergoing important changes involving the development of new roles and missions, with implications for their structure. Governments and institutions are implementing strategies to ensure the proper performance of universities and several studies have investigated evaluation of universities through the development and use of indicator systems. In this paper, we review some of the systems applied to the OECD countries, with special attention to Spain. We demonstrate the difficulty involved in establishing classification criteria for existing indicators, on which there is currently no consensus.
Collaborative Leadership in the Institutions of Higher Education : A Literature Review

This study aims to review the literature concerning collaborative leadership in the context of institutions of higher education. The study covers empirical research from 2000 to 2021, providing insights into how collaborative leadership in this context is understood. Material for the study consists of 20 articles, which are analysed using qualitative content analysis. Recruitment is a core instrument in the academic labour market. This article takes the perspective of the organisation − here, the university − on recruitment. Universities’ personnel policies and practises are shifting from legally oriented personnel administration to more strategic human resource management (HRM). In Nordic countries, this shift is partly driven by the changing status of higher education institutions from state-governed bureaus to more autonomous institutions.
